11th Annual Advancing Excellence in Transgender Health Conference

The National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center is holding its 11th annual Advancing Excellence in Transgender Health: A Course for the Whole Care Team conference virtually October 24 – 26. More than 3,000 health care professionals have attended over the years and another 300 attendees are expected this year. And since the conference is virtual, you can get a world-class education in transgender health without expensive plane rides or hotel reservations!

This year’s keynote will be delivered by Alex Sheldon. Alex is the Executive Director of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality and is a professional researcher, strategist, and advocate with over 15 years of experience in the field of human rights with a concentration in LGBTQ+ rights. Prior to joining GLMA, Alex has held significant roles such as Head of Research & Social Impact at an LGBTQ+ start-up company and Deputy Director of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) at the Clinton Foundation. They have also served in roles at Everytown for Gun Safety, the Movement Advancement Project (MAP), and several international non-profits.

This National Continuing Medical Education Course is designed to train the whole health care team in providing skilled and confident health care for transgender patients, grounded in research evidence and best clinical practices. Sessions are led by expert faculty specialized in transgender health-focused research and patient care. The conference is appropriate for all members of health care teams, including physicians, behavioral health care providers, physician assistants, nurses, and other staff.
