Current Best Practices for Health Centers in STI-related Care Community of Practice

The National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center will host a four-part community of practice focused on best practices for sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, treatment, and prevention in health centers. Sessions will focus on evidence-based approaches for screening, testing, and treating a range of STIs, including syphilis, Hepatitis A/B/C, HIV, and mpox. Participants will also explore innovative strategies for STI prevention such as DoxyPEP and PrEP, and gain knowledge on providing greater access to care for individuals seeking STI services from both experts with professional expertise and those with lived experience.

Participation Guidelines:

  • Organizations must be FQHCs or FQHC look-alikes to participate.
  • Health center staff will participate actively in all 4 sessions.

Session 1: Non-HIV Viral STIs

  2. Understand how to interpret and implement vaccine schedules for non-HIV viral STIs such as HPV, mpox, and hepatitis A/B.

  2. Understand the current trends in bacterial STIs.
  3. Discuss options for prevention of bacterial STIs such as DoxyPEP and understand how to implement this prevention option in a clinical setting.
