Health care professionals play an important role not only in delivering health care, but also in assisting transgender patients with non-medical aspects of gender-affirmation. Health care professionals must provide documentation for insurance appeals, gender marker changes, or medical leave. In this talk from the 2020 Advancing Excellence in Transgender Health conference, participants will gain a basic understanding of legal issues facing trans people and the current state of legal protections available so that you can become an effective advocate and resource for trans patients.
