Next, we will focus on the learning environment. You will learn how to foster a supportive learning environment in your course or clerkship. This is especially important when you are teaching about sexual and gender minority health content, and when you are teaching individuals who have been historically excluded, such as SGM-identified trainees.

We will walk you through a five-step process. Steps one and two cover how to use documents, including your syllabus and introductory emails. Step three covers the ways you can visually cue inclusivity. Step four covers the use of pronouns. Step five covers ways you can discuss expectations around the learning environment in your opening session/orientation.

By the end, you will be able to explain the step-by-step process and foster a supportive learning environment.
